Du Puy Creations makes and plays 5, 11, and 13 string kanteles. Our instruments are based on the traditional style of Finnish Baltic psaltery. These can be plucked or strummed or both in a combined technique similar to the type used for Lyres and also can be played with a plectrum. These instruments are easy on the wrists compared to harp or guitar making them an accessible choice for those with hand issues. We are happy to discuss in person or over zoom to get you started playing with the basics of this approachable instrument. Custom artwork, woods, and string counts can be ordered. While we usually have a few in stock, many of ours are created as custom orders. Contact us to discuss your own personal instrument build. We work in walnut, cherry, maple, and ash, as well as exotics such as purple heart and padauk.
